International Driving Permit (IDP) from India

How the application generally works

Open the official Parivahan/Sarathi portal and select the relevant state.
Choose the International Driving Permit service and enter your driving-licence details.
Complete the application and upload the documents requested by the portal.
Pay the official fee and book an appointment or attend verification if required.
Follow the authority's instructions for approval and collection/delivery.

Before you drive overseas

Check whether the destination accepts an IDP and which convention or format it recognises.
Carry your original valid Indian driving licence and IDP together.
Check local minimum age, vehicle category, insurance, rental-company and road rules.
Confirm the IDP's validity and permitted driving period with the issuing authority and destination.
